I ended up enjoying this performance piece. I enjoyed it mostly because of the huge role art played in the creation, illustration and retelling of this story. it was evident that all four women involved were strong supporters of the arts and believed in the ways in which it can help people express their feelings that are sometimes hard or difficult to put into words. not only were they involved with this SOARS program but each had other organizations that they were apart of. some of which were dance, art therapy, art education and other inspiration lecture events like this one. I also really enjoyed the relationship between the two sisters the one who was in charge of putting this all together and the one who was the victim of these acts of violence. The sisters helped each other succeed in their goals to move on in life and overcome obstacles through the process of this SOARS program.
there was a large crowd some were there for extra credit but overall most people seemed engaged and interested in the performances (song/dance/art/poetry/storytelling)
Overall im glad I chose to attend this event.
